Roamy the Van

Base Van: 2020 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 4×4

Roamy the Van is a Sprinter passenger van conversion designed by one of our favourite Sprinter van conversion companies, Rossmönster Vans. It has a dark leather theme that’s unique and stylish while still being ultra rugged. The 4×4 body is a lot smaller than other models so building with storage space in mind was crucial.

Roamy the Van has a fixed bed with a fold-out bench that doubles as an extra bed for guests. The design features walnut cabinets, 4-season insulation, and a roomy outdoor slide-out garage for gear. The cabinets are lined with LED lights to brighten up the space and make it feel cozy. The build is perfectly crafted to suit an adventurous lifestyle while still looking clean and modern. Like Roamy the Van, working with a company can help to make the best Sprinter van conversion for your needs.

Louis the Van

Base Van: 2020 RAM ProMaster 136” WB

There are plenty of Sprinter camper vans out there with white interiors, but the darker tones on Louis the Van are unique. During the pandemic, Seth and Scarlett created their own van conversion company turning Sprinter cargo vans into tiny homes. Their latest camper van features a dark, modern interior that stands out from other custom builds.

We absolutely love their hexagon floor design that has drainage for rinsing your feet and showers. They’ve added a replaceable shower head to their sink and a hidden surround for a transformable bathroom. This way, it only takes up space when you need it—which is invaluable in a Sprinter conversion van. The pair sells their conversions through their Instagram and is continuously creating cool and clever designs.

Laradvantures

Base Van: 2014 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 144

The simple and clean boho design of Larissa’s Sprinter camper van conversion, Bob, is anything but boring. Even with an ultra-neutral colour palette, she’s created a beautiful van with lots of personality. We love the herringbone flooring and natural wood countertop that’s elegant and functional.

And even while prioritizing function, Bob has lovely details throughout that really make the van feel like a home. In total, Larissa spent €6,850 on the build (excluding the van), which works out to $8,089 USD.

Vanlife Sagas

Base Van: 2021 RAM ProMaster 159” Extended

While not a Mercedes Sprinter, Dom and Marie of Vanlife Sagas have done an amazing transformation on their ProMaster. We love the ceiling and overall aesthetics of their van, with clean lines and natural materials. They recently upgraded to an extended wheelbase to upsize their storage and living space.

Some highlights of their van include an outdoor shower, custom cabinets, off-grid capabilities, and a hefty roof rack. ProMaster vans have tons of space inside for storage and the floor plan is perfectly suited for adventure. Dom and Marie spent $73,839 CAD on their build, which is about $58,522 USD. They saved about $20k in labour costs by doing the work themselves instead of hiring a van conversion company.

Our Van Quest

Base Van: 2011 Sprinter 170 WB Extended

Jake and Gianna of Our Van Quest have gone from van life to bus life and beyond. They started their journey with a Sprinter van camper conversion and have since expanded into a family-focused skoolie. Their van and bus have a similar style, tying in black accents with neutral colour palettes. Their bus even has additional seating (with seatbelts) for extra passengers to join the ride. Meanwhile, they’ve maximized space in their van to fit a farmhouse sink and full shower. They also have a fixed bed with a gear garage beneath that’s perfect for bikes and storing solar equipment.

Go and Live Free

Base Van: 2008 3500 170 Extended Sprinter Van (with a mega roof!)

If you’ve ever thought that you’re too tall to live in a converted van, say hello to Jake & Heather’s custom van. Their “mega roof” Sprinter has 7 ft ceilings! They’ve made excellent use of the space with lots of storage and a full-height shower.

We love that their Sprinter camper conversion has a permanent bed set-up and a separate work area. The swivel seats create a multipurpose living space that can easily transform from office to dinner table in no time. All in, they estimate that their van build cost $37,818 and was worth every penny.

6 Reasons Why Travel Blog

Base Van: 2009 170 Extended Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van

Cam, Em, and Flynn have taken Sprinter van customization to the next level. They’ve kitted out their Sprinter van to be a kid-friendly home for the whole family to travel Australia. Sprinter camper vans don’t usually have much room for additional beds so they had to get creative. Their custom van has a hanging bed so their son can have his own space to spread out.

The family has optimized their interior to have a permanent bed, living area, bathroom, and full kitchen. The coolest part is that they’ve partitioned off the driving area so the space doesn’t feel like it’s in a vehicle. They prove that tiny homes are possible with kids with a bit of creative thinking and elbow grease.

Benji, the Van |Drink Tea & Travel

Base Van: 2008 Dodge Sprinter 170WB Van

It wouldn’t be a vanlife inspiration post without showing off our very own cozy home on wheels, Benji! Our Dodge Sprinter van camper perfectly pairs rugged off-grid features with luxury finishes. Our favourite part of the build is definitely our DIY elevator bed. We knew we wanted to have a permanent bed that we didn’t have to make up every day without sacrificing too much living space. With the pulley setup, we’re able to raise up the bed when we don’t need it without any deconstruction.

We built out our van completely on our own to create a fully customized layout. It’s the best Sprinter camper van for our needs and allows us to be fully off-grid and self-sufficient. We spent close to $40K CAD on our van and build. We think we did pretty well considering this includes live edge countertops, a full-height shower, and 600W of solar! If you’re considering a self-build, you can find the full details of our process here, along with a full cost breakdown.
