The city operates on the concept of Ecological Transition, which aims to find new ways for society and commerce to function with sustainable responsibility. In recent years, Geneva has also implemented a number of initiatives to promote sustainable travel.

Geneva’s sustainable development goals focus on increasing new electric vehicles, protecting the city’s 20,000 animal species and 1,250 wild plant species and subsoil from contamination and exploitation, as well as sustainable agriculture.

With more and more focus on sustainable development across the country, Geneva is one of the top destinations for those who are looking to explore new ways to travel responsibly.

Best Time to Visit Geneva

The best time to visit Geneva depends on your travel needs. If you’re interested in outdoor activities and festivals, the most popular time is between late May and early September.

The warmer temperature during these months attracts swimmers to Lake Geneva and makes the festivals more enjoyable. However, if you’re interested in skiing or winter activities, the best time to visit is between December and February.

I visited Geneva in October and found it a lovely time in the city. Despite a bit of rain, the weather was warm and pleasant. It was a beautiful time to explore the countryside and even get out on the water!

Teppes de Verbois is a reserve with four observatories – perfect for birdwatching. No matter what your preference, enjoying the city’s natural spaces is easy to do.
