Niagara Takes Flight – A New Way to Experience Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has long been one of the most iconic natural attractions in Canada, drawing millions of visitors each year to admire the mighty Horseshoe Falls, the steep rock faces, and the swirling rapids of the Niagara River corridor. But for all its grandeur, most experiences of the Falls happen from the ground or the water, whether you’re standing at Table Rock, taking a boat ride to the base, or exploring the trails that run along the Niagara River.

This summer, a brand-new way to experience Niagara opened its doors: Niagara Takes Flight, a state-of-the-art flying theatre attraction located inside Niagara Parks’ flagship Table Rock Centre. Blending advanced drone cinematography, motion technology, and immersive storytelling, the $25 million attraction is designed to take guests soaring over the Falls, through lush forests, past dramatic historical battles, and across the landscapes that shaped this region.

Niagara Takes Flight officially opened on August 29, 2025 and is now open daily from 9am to 10pm. Tickets cost $29 for adults and $19 for children, and the ride is also included in Niagara Parks’ bundled passes.

We were among the very first to experience Niagara Takes Flight and are excited to share our experience along with our tips for visiting this attraction at Niagara Falls.

What Is Niagara Takes Flight?

Niagara Takes Flight is Ontario’s first flying theatre, offering visitors a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the Niagara River corridor.

Filmed over the course of 6 months with custom drone cinematography, the experience soars over 56 kilometres of parkland, stretching from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Along the way, you glide over swirling rapids, steep rock faces, and lush forests, while passing through scenes of dramatic battles that shaped the course of history – before getting closer than ever to the mighty Horseshoe Falls.

The journey unfolds on a 17-metre domed screen, with gondola-style seating that lifts guests into the air. Motion programming and sensory effects like wind, mist, and scent enhance the illusion of flight, taking you through all four seasons.

The experience is more than just a thrill ride. Niagara Takes Flight combines storytelling, culture, history and technology to showcase Niagara in a new, never-before-seen way!

The Ride Experience: Step by Step

From the moment you step inside Niagara Takes Flight, it’s clear this is more than a ride—it’s a full sensory journey. The experience lasts about 35 minutes, beginning with a series of immersive storytelling rooms that introduce Niagara’s natural wonders, Indigenous roots, and cultural milestones. These pre-show areas build anticipation and context, so that by the time you enter the flying theatre, you’re not just ready for a thrill – you’re ready to see Niagara through an entirely new lens.

The flight itself lasts about 6 minutes, but it’s the lead-up that makes the experience so powerful. Three distinct pre-show rooms set the stage:

The Ancestors Room

The first stop is the Ancestors Room, created in collaboration with Mohawk artist Sara General. Visitors gather around an illuminated fire as her original artwork comes alive through animation, sharing the creation story of Turtle Island and offering a moving introduction to Niagara’s Indigenous heritage.

The Waterfall Room

Next comes the Waterfall Room, narrated by filmmaker James Cameron, who grew up in Niagara Falls. Through his voice, guests are guided through cultural milestones and industrial achievements that transformed Niagara into one of the world’s most iconic destinations. His narration adds both authenticity and a personal touch, given his connection to the city.

The Transporter Room

The journey continues into the Transporter Room, a launch chamber designed to build anticipation. Surrounded by historic artifacts, guests feel as though they’re descending to the base of the Falls and into the power station itself. Here, safety instructions are delivered, and the energy in the room shifts as everyone prepares for take-off.

The Flight

Finally, the doors open, revealing gondola-style seating. You stow away your belongings, strap in, and prepare for lift-off. The chairs rotate 180 degrees, the floor drops away, and suddenly your feet are dangling as the massive domed screen fills your vision. The sensation of flight takes over as you glide through Niagara’s landscapes and seasons. Mist sprays your face, wind rushes past, and the visuals pull you into the illusion.

What follows is a sequence of unexpected surprises, sweeping perspectives, and powerful storytelling that come together in an unforgettable journey above the Falls.

Where Is Niagara Takes Flight Located?

The attraction is inside Table Rock Centre, the main visitor hub at Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. Its central location makes it easy to combine with other Niagara Parks attractions and viewpoints. 

Where Should I Park?

The most convenient option is Niagara Parks Lot A, located right beside Table Rock Centre. It’s just steps from the entrance to the Table Rock Centre and Niagara Takes Flight and makes it easy to access other nearby attractions at the Falls.

How Much Do Tickets Cost?

Admission is $29 for adults and $19 for children. It’s also included in bundled passes like the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass, offering a great budget-friendly option if you plan to explore more than one attraction.

When Is It Open?

Niagara Takes Flight runs daily from 10am to 10pm, giving visitors plenty of time to fit the experience into their itinerary. 

How Do You Get There?

Table Rock Centre is within walking distance of Niagara’s main viewing platforms. The WEGO bus stops directly at the entrance, and paid parking is available nearby, though it fills quickly during peak hours.

Is the Ride Accessible?

The preshow areas are fully accessible, and the ride can accommodate guests who can transfer from a mobility device into a theatre seat. For those unable to transfer, an accessible room offers a flattened version of the film after the preshow. 

How Much Time Should You Plan?

Budget about an hour for the full experience, including the pre-show and possible wait times. This will give you plenty of time to experience the ride and also browse the souvenir shops just outside. 

Are There Food Options Nearby?

Yes. The Table Rock Centre has multiple dining options just steps from the attraction. The offers locally inspired dishes with incredible views of the Horseshoe Falls, while the is perfect for a quicker bite or coffee before or after your ride.

• Table Rock House Restaurant is a full-service dining experience with floor-to-ceiling views of the Horseshoe Falls. The menu focuses on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, featuring Ontario lamb, Lake Erie perch, and house-made pastas, all paired with an extensive Niagara wine list. It’s an ideal choice if you’re looking for a memorable sit-down meal with a view.
• Table Rock Bistro and Wine Bar is a more casual spot, offering a smaller menu with nice sharing boards, salads, burgers and sandwiches. The bistro has a nice patio, where we enjoyed our meal overlooking the Falls. The drink list features Niagara VQA wines, beers, cider and spirits from over 100 local producers, a great way to sample the region’s flavours and support the region’s growers, winemakers, and brewers

Tips for Visiting Niagara Takes Flight

• Avoid Long Lines: Reserve your spot ahead of time to minimize wait times. Tickets are sold in 15-minute time slots, making it easy to plan around the rest of your day at the Falls.
• Check Height & Weight Requirements: Riders must be at least 100 cm (3 ft 3 in) tall and weigh less than 300 lbs to board the attraction. 
• Don’t stress about your bags: Before boarding the gondolas, you can leave large bags in cubbies. Smaller items and shoes can be tucked under the seat in a storage basket.
• Wear the Right Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are best, as flip-flops or sandals can slip off when your feet dangle during the ride. If you’re wearing sandals, you can remove them and store them under your seat.
• Pick the Best Seats: For the best views, choose seats on the outer edges of the gondola rows. These rotate inward as the ride begins, placing you right in the centre for the most immersive experience. 

Final Thoughts

We absolutely loved Niagara Takes Flight – so much so that we rode it more than once just to take it all in. The combination of storytelling, technology, and those never-before-seen views of the Falls makes it unlike any other attraction in Niagara.
