With influences from around the world, Irvine has everything from casual noodle houses to elegant Italian restaurants serving seasonal menus and fine wines.

The city’s two main dining hubs — Downtown Irvine and the Irvine Spectrum Center — are where most visitors begin their culinary journey. Downtown offers a mix of long-standing favourites and trendy new spots, while the Spectrum combines restaurants, cocktails, and entertainment in one lively destination.

After just 5 days in Irvine, we don’t claim to be experts in Irvine’s dining scene, but hope that our recommendations below will highlight some of our favourite spots that undoubtedly warrant the title of the best restaurants in Irvine!

Let’s dig in!

Located in the Irvine Spectrum Center, Kalbi Social Club delivers one of the city’s most exciting Korean BBQ experiences. Options like brisket, ribeye, and their 48-hour marinated kalbi make for a flavour-packed meal, while sets such as the Rendezvous for Two provide everything you need for a hearty feast. Each order comes with traditional Korean side dishes and sauces, creating a well-rounded spread that’s perfect for sharing. It was one of our top dining experiences in Irvine.

Ever After Tea Room & Eatery

Ever After Tea Room & Eatery brings a fresh take on Taiwanese cuisine, paired with the uplifting motto of eating and drinking happily. The menu highlights comforting favourites like beef noodle soup with rib, wonton noodle soup, and pork-chop noodles in a floral pork bone broth, alongside lighter plates such as miso salmon and salmon fried rice made with organic black and brown rice.

Known for their commitment to non-GMO, organic ingredients, the café blends health-conscious dining with authentic flavour. Don’t miss the Taiwanese snow cake desserts, which add a sweet finish to the meal. With whimsical décor and a relaxed vibe, it’s a lovely choice for a low-key lunch or casual outing that feels a little out of the ordinary.

Solstice

Solstice celebrates the best of California with a seasonal menu that changes throughout the year. Expect dishes that highlight fresh, local ingredients, from vibrant salads to hearty mains. The chic interior along with a great wine and cocktail list makes it a good choice for special occasions.  If you’re a fan of farm-to-table dining, this is one of the best restaurants in Irvine to add to your list.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations

This lively gastropub combines Southern-inspired comfort food with one of the most impressive whiskey lists in Orange County. The menu ranges from mac and cheese to short rib grilled cheese, all served in a buzzy, industrial-style space. Their weekend brunch is also a hit, with indulgent options like fruity pebble French Toast and a Donut Burger. Pair your meal with a craft cocktail or a pour from their whiskey wall for the full experience.

Hive & Honey Rooftop Bar

Located atop the Marriott Irvine Spectrum, Hive & Honey Rooftop Bar offers one of the best views in the city. Come for sunset cocktails (reservation recommended) and stay for shareable plates like flatbreads and sliders. The vibe is trendy with firepits and plenty of lounge seating. It’s the kind of place where the atmosphere is just as important as the food and drinks, making it perfect for an evening out.

Italian & Mediterranean

Il Fornaio

If you’re in the mood for traditional Italian dining, Il Fornaio delivers an authentic experience. The menu features handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and regional Italian dishes crafted with care. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great choice for both family meals and date nights. Their Happy Hour is particularly praised for being a great deal for food and drinks.

Final Thoughts

Irvine’s dining scene is every bit as diverse as the city itself. From sizzling Korean barbecue and California farm-to-table kitchens to Italian pastas and whimsical cafés, there’s something here to suit every craving.

The Irvine Spectrum Center is a natural starting point, with its mix of restaurants, cocktails, and entertainment, while Downtown Irvine offers a more local, laid-back feel with long-standing favourites and hidden gems.

For the best experience, balance your trip with a few sit-down meals at signature restaurants and casual stops at cafés for coffee, brunch, dessert or even a casual melon tasting.
